Someone's wearing big girl panties....

Santa gave Grace some big girl panties for Christmas... and today was the first day she wore them...

We put them on after her nap. I think she was real proud because once I put them on she walked right over to the mirror to admire them.

She did real well for the first few hours. She had her first accident while watching Nemo. Scott and I where in the back and she walked in and said "I am all wet?"

Santa was so smart he brought Grace Elmo panties, he's her favorite character.

We've been reading books and watching video for the past few months. But ever time we went to the store and I showed the panties to Grace and asked her if she wanted any she said "No".

The NEW I-phone...

While putting Grace to bed tonight I had to remind her that she could not go to bed with her I-phone... You know the brand new super secret toddler sized clear I-phone.... So we put it on her dresser, I can not wait to see if she asks for it in the morning... November 19,2009

Scott said "Worry when she starts listening to music on... worry more if *you* can hear it."

Potty Books - What where you thinking???

Could someone please tell me why potty story books: #1 - Show the child poo poon'g next to the potty??? #2 - Show the CHILD emptying the potty into the toilet??? #3 - One of them even show the child presenting the potty to the Mommy, why??? Leave the darn thing on the floor thank you... That being said Grace is doing wonderfully well in her training...

Comments:
Caroline - I am sorry. I am laughing a LOT! Glad she is doing so well! Bahahahaha... be prepared to wipe after # 2 for a while!

Constance - With extra emphasis on "a while"!:)

Laura - Grace is doing so well! Did you wrap the potty like a gift??? Some of those illustrations don't help, do they?

Karen G - Are you serious? I mean seriously... that is kind of weird. But Laura is right... Grace is doing very well. I image it takes a long time to learn that skill.

Sarah - so very true! .... and yes, diaper wipes continue to be useful... as long as it is clear, THEY DO NOT GO IN THE POTTY! thank goodness, T has learned that, he even corrected me once when I accidentally threw one in! It is harder now that he gets one himself if I am not fast enough...

We won a photo session with a local children's photographer...

Grace and I won a photo session this past Spring... We finally had our photo session on June 30th... These are a few shots from that day... Notice the traditional purple dress... This is the same dress that Grace wore in China... I grabbed the wrong hanger the morning of the shot and did not realize my mistake until I took the dress off. I was shocked... To think that she can still wear the same dress is shocking.. http://www.saraphotography.com/Slideshows/Grace/

Happy Family Day...

One year ago today Grace was place in our arms...

I can hardly believe I am writing this Grace was placed in our arms last year at 3:19 pm (I think) on 03/31/2008...

As I look at the picture of us in that first moment...

I cannot believe how far we have come...

We sent the day together as a family... We went to the Georgia Aquarium... Grace really liked seeing all the different water life... And we had dinner at the local Chinese resturant...

Grace was in the orphanage for 307 days... which means

As of February 2nd Grace had been in our loving care longer than she was in the orphanage... HEY!!!!

One of our travel mates wrote a wonderful note about this very subject it got me thinking; what was Grace's day??? So I calculated the day Grace was born on May 29, 2007 and was placed in our loving arms on March 31st which is 307 days or 10 months 2 days. I then put in March 31, 2007 and added 307 days which was February 1st so as of the 2nd she has been with us longer than she was in the orphanage.

As you can see from the previous pictures she is doing wonderfully well... THANK GOD!!!!!!!!

OMG They still fit... With the exception of the length...

The night we arrived home in Atlanta, April 12, 2008

This is a very loose outfit to begin with but she might be able to wear it this summer as shorts.

Our little sweet heart on April 1st 2008

Recently I gave a dear friend alot of Grace's hand me down...

But I kept back two outfits that Scott and I love... For Scott it's the purple overalls which was the outfit she wore on our second day as a family. For me its the denim one piece outfit with the dog, this was the outfit Grace wore when we landed in Atlanta.
Unbelievable that they still fit with the exception of the length.
By the way the little slippers are the next size they are not the same slippers.

"PURPLE"
&
she was so proud of herself.

The words are coming fast and furious... Today it was door and "PURPLE"

Nana for bananna, spoon (but only once), more, bath, bite (very similar), Bye bye (but after we have left or the phone has been hung up), bird, boo (we've had this one for a while - cute story), Tech, ni (nice), nih nih (night night), juic (juice and she made up her own sign), mine (I think), OT (hot)

and our chinese words are La for pull - she learned from watching Ni Hao Kai-lan (http://www.nickjr.com/shows/ni-hao-kai-lan/index.jhtml). Kai-lan asks the audience to repeat after her and one day Grace did... This is also where she learned ni (nice) - ni is not chinese for nice but Kai-lan repeated it three times and thus Grace said it.

For all my sorority sisters I wish I could say that I taught her purple but it was Dad.

January photo at the Palace Deli

Mom's shoes... the photo I've been waiting for.

One of my favorite childhood photo's is of me wearing my Dad's boots.

Gymboree - I've moved up to level four.
